This is the glue that holds your builds together. Bad seams are where most foam builds fail: the joint pops open after a day of wear, or the glue line shows through the paint. Contact cement is what prevents that, as long as you use it the way you learned.

Zelikovitz 1882 is a water-based neoprene contact cement made for leather, rubber and EVA foam. Once it bonds, the seam stays flexible, so it bends with the foam instead of cracking along the joint. And because it’s water-based, you skip the heavy solvent smell of traditional contact cements.

Same cement :)

What it’s for

  • Seams and joints on EVA foam builds
  • Laminating foam layers together

How to use it

  1. Brush a thin, even coat on both surfaces.
  2. Wait until the cement turns from milky white to clear. This is the step that matters. Pressed together while still milky, the seam won’t hold.
  3. Line up the pieces carefully and press them firmly together. The bond grabs on contact, so you won’t be able to slide them into place afterward.

Care
Keep the cap tight so it doesn’t thicken, and store at room temperature. It’s water-based, so keep it from freezing.

Pairs with the Finishing Refill (Flexbond, contact cement and sponge brushes) if you’re restocking everything at once.

See you at the bench.
